See something we should check?
Tell us about a possible factual error. We review requests against available evidence and correct confirmed material errors.
What we correct
We review potential errors in technical specifications, codes and standards, licensing information, dates, product information, quotations, company information, calculations and documented facts. A disagreement with judgment is not necessarily a factual error, but we consider evidence that underlying facts are wrong.
How corrections are handled
- You tell us. Point to the statement and share evidence.
- We review the evidence. We check it against available evidence and our Editorial Standards.
- We correct confirmed errors. Significant corrections include a note on the affected article or page when appropriate.
Routine spelling, formatting and other non-substantive fixes may be made without a notice.
Corrections versus updates
Correction: the original reporting contained a factual error. Update: facts changed after publication, so the article was brought current.
Interested parties
Contractors, manufacturers, advertisers, sponsors and affiliate partners may identify factual errors. A commercial relationship does not permit removal of accurate information or control an editorial conclusion.
